TOPIC: Newcomers in NYC and North Jersey area Need Advice on Starting in the Local Scene

Hello everyone - after months of planning, we went out for the first time and decided to try the party scene in NYC. Here is what we encountered:
1) We went to the Loft around midnight (on a Saturday). Very nice facility but nobody was there. 2) After the Loft, we headed over to Caligula. Experience was less than impressive. Dated run down facility, no socialization except among those who knew eachother already, 90% of the sexual activity were couples going into the private rooms (which were gross). In the playroom at 1-2AM you had one couple and about 25 folks just sitting around doing nothing. Since our party strategy failed, any advice for us as newbies for getting into swinging and meeting people who are more social other than the options just mentioned? We were quite frustrated by our experience, and at this point need any and all advice. We also prefer a more upscale environment than Caligula. Feel free to share on forum or contact us directly.
