Saw some interesting stuff on the effects of fasting and cancer. Just to be clear, this was in ADDITION TO Chemo, and not in place of it. There is no evidence that I'm aware of that fasting alone has an impact on cancer.
The theory behind that is that cancer cells divide faster and uncontrolled. Cell division takes a lot of energy/nutrients, so having less available for cell division is thought to impact cancer cells way more than normal ones. In studies with mice, tumor growth was drastically reduced where fasting was employed with chemo vs chemo alone. It also improved odds of survivability.
